MacDonnell Regional Council announces the conclusion of the coronial inquest into the tragedy that occurred at the Kintore pool on December 2, 2020, where a precious young life was lost. Our thoughts remain with those affected as we acknowledge the profound impact of this tragedy.
The inquest, which commenced on July 29, 2024, included evidence presented by the CEO and other relevant parties. This comprehensive investigation aimed to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify recommendations to prevent future tragedies.
MacDonnell Regional Council is committed to transparency and accountability and has fully cooperated throughout the inquest process. Following the conclusion of the proceedings, the written submissions from all legal representation will be submitted to the Coroner in approximately three weeks.
Following the submission, the coroner is expected to compile a report that will include recommendations. This document will be available to the public.
The Council will continue to keep the community informed about this process. Updates will be provided through our official website.
